Is this safe and legal?
Yes! Safety and compliance are top priorities at The Floating Lanterns. We work hand-in-hand with local fire departments, city officials, and permitting agencies to make sure every event is fully approved and responsibly managed. Each location is granted the proper permits to light and release lanterns — something that’s not typically allowed without prior authorization.
Our lanterns are designed specifically for these events: they are 100% biodegradable, flame-retardant, and equipped with a fast-burning fuel cell. This ensures they burn out completely before returning to the ground — leaving no flame, and no trace.
Will this create litter or harm the environment?
Not at all. We go above and beyond to minimize our environmental impact. The lanterns we use are eco-friendly and biodegradable, meeting and exceeding industry standards. They’ve been scientifically tested to ensure they disintegrate safely and cleanly.
Plus, each event has a dedicated cleanup team who stays behind after the event — often for up to 48 hours — to recover any remaining lanterns and leave the area just as beautiful as we found it.

What can I expect before the launch?
Depending on the venue, outside food policies may vary — but sealed water bottles are typically allowed, while coolers are not. We partner with a variety of local food trucks and vendors, and you’ll often find s’mores kits, snacks, and even beer & wine for purchase on-site. It’s all part of the experience!
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing blankets or camp chairs for comfort. If you’re arriving early, sun shades are a great idea. Strollers and wagons are welcome, but pets are not allowed (service animals are the exception). Also, remember — no coolers.
Who needs a ticket?
Kids 6 and under get in free — no ticket required. Everyone age 7 and up will need a ticket to enter. Your ticket includes entry to the event and your own lantern kit, which you’ll launch during the event. We do not offer spectator-only tickets.
How can I save money on tickets?
The earlier you buy, the better the price! Our ticket system is tiered by time and quantity, so as we get closer to the event and tickets sell out, prices go up. The best way to get the lowest price is to grab your tickets now and secure your spot early!
